We don't have a range hood. They don't install those in century old bungalows.
My mom's fridge was moved out here from PA. That means its over 50 years old. Things are classified as antique when they are over 25 years old. Still going strong. They really knew how to make stuff back in the day. None of this planned obsolescence crap. She's got a freezer too. Not sure if that's quite as old but it's definitely an antique.
Kudos to you for trying to repair your fridge. I've given up trying to repair appliances. My tools are all scattered, as is my patience for doing anything of that sort. That attitude probably won't serve me too well during the apocalypse.
