Happy Validation Day, everyone. Today I'm looking to the Breckenridge FF and SF Doc Fest to see if I have any self worth. To recap, SF Doc Fest was the kick in the butt to finish the doc. Even, if they don't select me, I thank them for the impetus.
And I've come to the realization, maybe true, maybe not, that if you don't hear by notification day, you are going to get picked to play Red Rover. I was looking at the SF Doc Fest website to see if they had any changes because of the lock down and they already were showing posters of some of the films that were going to be in the festival. Which led me to believe they already know their slate. I couple this with the fact that Warsaw has already sent me an invite three months ahead of their notification day. But we will see. Hope springs eternal. The counter argument is that FFs want to make a production of the announcements so they will tell us all on notification day.
Speaking of hope, I have more hope for Breckenridge than I do for SF Doc Fest. I can tell Breckenridge screened the film twice. I'm not sure if SF Doc Fest has seen the film.
Speaking of pandemics, I don't see how anybody can have a film festival at this point. AMC announced they aren't opening their theaters until the end of July. Broadway says they will be shuttered through the end of the year. It doesn't make a lot of sense to have a large group of people in a theater when we are having forty thousand new cases a day and rising.
What will probably happen for me is that I will be accepted to several festivals in Europe only not be allowed to attend because of the travel ban.
Good times.

As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm
