Yeah, LCF has had all kinds of power cord problems with her laptops. She's hard on them, moves them around (it's what they're for, after all), maybe runs over them with desk chair wheels, etc. Sometimes they develop a hairline short in the cord, and you have to play around draping the cord just right to get continuity.
I had the connector break on my laptop motherboard once. Took it all apart, was appalled at the number of screws and extreme level of disassembly, soldered the connector back on, and put it all back together.
Sort of. Several leftover screws.
But it worked. For a time.
