His album Gumbo is worth seeking out; it has great versions of some older New Orleans songs like "Iko Iko," "Big Chief" and "Junko Partner." And according to the NY Times obituary, he was an Ivory Soap baby, and also wrote the theme songs for Blossom and Curious George.
