Allan Joe, a friend of Bruce Lee's from the early years, and a Fremont resident for years, passed away yesterday. I've been by his home, which is very close to the office, and sat on his sofa where Bruce once sat. It took me years to get introduced to him and I regret not doing more with him. He was a true gentleman, touched by the grace of the dragon, so welcoming and open. Today's task is to write an official obituary.
Also, a dear friend from my old Dead Tour/BGP daze, Henry Sullivan passed away last week. He was a Lord of the lots, one of the protectors of shakedown street who I worked with for some 30+ years. The last time we saved a lost soul together was on the rocky south beach of Eel river two years ago. I was called out on a mission of mercy and had several of my top JNK in tow. But like he always did, Henry was there long before we were, solved the issue, and saw it through. He taught me so much about charity, creative problem solving, open-mindedness and humble heroism, but never in direct lessons, always by example. The music festival scene won't be the same without him.
