I have to respect any low-budget science fiction movie that aims to be cerebral.  So I'm sympathetic to what was attempted here.  But mathematics and a few clever traps and other mechanisms just never gell into anything compelling, and the whole premise rings ever more hollow.  Cerebral?  Sorry, it falls far short of my standards.

Making matters worse, the characters are sophomoric, their conflicts painfully artificial.  And the acting...  True, they weren't given much to work with, but even so...

Here's a setting and characters I just threw together to give you a feel for the characters and conflicts in this movie:

Howdy, Detective Noodle.  Don't you howdy me, Decker, you piece of shit.  I know you're up to something, I can tell.  Lower your damned voice! cried Sarah.  You'll wake my baby!  It ain't even born yet, groaned Grandma Guppy.  Lunch is ready! announced Dijon the cook.  What we having there, Dijon? said Carbuncle.  Don't get picky with me, Carbuncle!  It's nutritional, that's all your stomachs need to know.  Nutritional, spat the Linguist.  I despise Old French words.  Next guy who uses one will get a Funk & Wagnalls shoved up his ass.  Enough! shouted Detective Noodle.  If someone doesn't step forward and confess, I'll kick the bunch of you in the balls!  Promises, promises, sighed Contessa Snouzer, licking her nose.  She spat at the salad bar.  Everyone gasped as a hard-boiled egg hit the floor.  Minnow Smith grinned ear to ear, having thrown it.  You better clean that up, Minnow! whined Hilo the janitor.  Or I'm gonna tell my mom.  Gargantula the belly dancer stomped on the egg, making the mess worse, then said, Hilo, you don't know who your mom is.  Everyone broke into hysterical laughter, which abruptly turned to bellows of rage.
I'm nobody's pony.
