Oh, we never had a pool. The best we could manage was to sit on a piece of damp cloth.
But you know, we were happy in those days, though we were poor. Because we were poor. My old Dad used to say to me, "Money doesn't buy you happiness, son".

I tried priming it. If I shoot water directly into the pump, the pump puts it right into the pool. It just doesn't suck it from the pool.
Pool professional coming tomorrow. Still better than the $1800 the pool guy wanted to charge us.

I should have known you'd try that. Well at least the pump works.

Assume nothing when I'm involved. I've worked with me before and it's always a challenge.

Does anyone even swim in that pool anymore?
I need to move some boxes to the garage then head home. Work is mostly prep for the holidays. Yuki gets groomed today.

Looks like it's me and the Yeti. Or am I crashing the Harkness Xmas?

This convo should be under the D00M M00N thread cuz it's a gathering.
I'm tempting fate on this Merc Fri 13 with a trip to SF. I've got Chinatown business (CHAS meeting) and then I'm popping over to the 'Mo' for Social Distortion. SD is doing a 5 night run there (sold out all 5 shows quickly). Honestly, I'm not that into punk, but the RM supe there is one of my main psych gurus and she just had major back surgery so she's out of play for a spell. I said I'd help out, plus I'm delivering two of my mom's old backbraces because they're better quality than what worker's comp is providing for her. The big storm will probably hit on the way home, which makes it a toss up whether (weather?) I take the coast home or brave 17...

SD is more rockabilly-ish, early rock&roll-ish than punk anymore - unless they took a turn. It's like Burning Spear - once they got their thing down, they never changed it.
I saw them in 81 or 82 at the Mabuhay Garden, before their first album came out and before that club closed. They were great then, playing raw old school rock, with a great cover of Bad Moon Rising. I saw them again a few years later at the Varsity in Palo Alto (before that closed) and they were terrible - Mike Ness was a total junkie at that point. The rest of the band was okay, but he couldn't remember the words, or sing so you could understand them, or even play very well. I thought it was interesting that all the punks I talked to thought it was a great show; they apparently saw what they wanted to see, not what I saw.

Even though the Queen is away in sunny Chicago (Temp 3º, heavy snow forecast), I made jerky. Did the grocery shopping. Walked the beasts. I'm now doing my audio recording of my Chinese questions of Tu, part Two. I streamlined the questions from the first interview and came up with 40 more questions. This is going to go great.
