Shao Lin Si (少林寺之得宝传奇)

A reboot of Shaolin Temple from Wang Baoqiang, one of my fav actors right now (search Baoqiang here). Wang was raised at Shaolin Temple and has delivered some actioners, although his reputation is for comedy.

Raging Fire (2021)

This stars Donnie Yen and has lots of action.  But the fight choreography seems suspect.

Cool. I've been tracking Raging Fire since 2019. That looks very Benny Chan. http://www.kungfumagazine.com/forum/show...aging-Fire

Iron Blood Guard looks like the bastard beast from Princess Mononoke and Evil Dead.

Insight

I interviewed the director for her previous film, Brush with Dangerhttp://www.kungfumagazine.com/index.php?...ticle=1179
That movie sucked.

I'm going to go on record and say this does not look good. I will also go on record and say I will watch it when it comes out.

As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

You and your DC cancel culture.

It's got Wonder Woman with a sword. I'm in.

What movie now has the largest Chinese Opening ever, beating Avengers:Endgame? It's this one. Detective Chinatown 3. DM needs to tell me more.

I'm dying to see Detective Chinatown 3 even though I didn't care for the initial installment in the series and failed to make it through the sequel because the version I watched lacked subtitles. But I have a deep admiration for Wang Baoqiang because he's funny, he has range, and he was raised in Dengfeng so he has genuine Shaolin skills.

I reviewed DC1 on the Lost in Thailand thread (see http://www.brotherhoodofdoom.com/doomFor...7#pid34287) - that thread also discusses the Lost in trilogy. If you're interested Greg, I'd check out Lost in India - that's probably the most digestible for you, or at least it'll give you a taste of what Wang is all about. I think it's available on Amazon Prime.

Wang is in a few more flicks I've reviewed here (none of them stellar really)

Iceman

These are actioners and don't showcase his comedic talent.

I would recommend Kung Fu Jungle, aka Kung Fu Killer.

Wang has a double-barreled attack for this year's Lunar rush. He's also in this:

Detective Chinatown 3 and The Shaolin Temple: Legend of Debao (full U.S. title as of now) are the top two Lunar New Year releases that are of interest to me this year. As soon as I see them, I'll pitch a piece on Wang to Den.

Two more notes about DC3:

DC3 was scheduled to open theatrically for last year's Lunar New Year. I was looking forward to seeing it in a theater.

Another film titled Hi, Mom just surged past DC3 in for the Lunar rush box office. I don't know anything about this film beyond it being a family drama. Both films are on track to clear $700M.

I have a problem with Kong vs Godzilla. I think it's about scale. Kong climbed to the top of the Empire State Building and swatted at planes whereas Godzilla "wades through the buildings towards the center of town". I just imagine Godzilla is much bigger than Kong (and can shoot radioactive fire and, can fly). So, higher mammal or not, I don't see it as a far fight...

I would watch the hell out of Godzilla v Kong v Wayne.

And I'm totally with you about Godzilla v Kong tg.

Kong doesn't even count as a Kaiju to me. He's a stop-motion puppet. That just doesn't compare.

tg - ever check out OwlKitty? https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpLQXR1...a1LRY8KS4w

I agree with the Godzilla/Kong false debate. ‘Zilla would radioactively BBQ Kong and that would be that.
Kong ain’t no Kaiju. That’s my bumpersticker/t-shirt quote for today
