Stro
Look. I am not a person to be trusted with wrapped Christmas presents. I will shake the hell out of them. Since it is currently 7pm in Paris, I figured I should know by now whether I'm in the Beyond the Curve IFF. I went to their website to see if they've announced there. They do have a list of all the films that are a list of Official Selections and Stro is on that list. Yay. But I don't know if that means we get to screen the film as part of their bi-monthly screening. Yes, it would be nice to have some sort of official at this point. The screening is less than two weeks away and I'd rather start jumping through their hoops now.

Preliminary Validation. I don't know yet if I made it to the actual streaming phase.

Odd. Someone in Arlington, MA watched the film today. I don't know what festival that would be for. I also had one in Kona, HI but i think that is one of Schiffrin's buddies who's name escapes me.

It's all weird. The only thing I'm currently waiting on is a Paris festival to announce if my film will screen at the end of the month.

This isn't maddening at all. The Beyond the Curve Film Festival out of Paris keeps sending me blank emails. There is a header that says 'Hi' and then a blank page. I can tell it's important by the slug that I can see in the email feed. In the slug today, the email read that I was finalist in their festival. Opening the email, as I said, had nothing in it. I can download the attachment which is the official laurel that says finalist.

Fortunately, I can read the emails on my phone so I know what they want from me but oh it is maddening.

Becoming a finalist still does not mean I will be part of their online event. They are still choosing the films for that. We'll see. I think they only choose one or two films to screen from each category so it's a really narrow window to get to be screened. However, if that does happen, fingers crossed, we are then in the running to have a live in-person screening in Paris in July. For some reason, tQ would be very pleased if that were to occur.

Stro just made it to the Finalist round. No selection to be screened. No trip to Paris.

On the other hand, BOLLYWOOD!

Stro is an official selection of the Chambal International Film Festival, held in lovely Rajasthan, India!

I think I received a big discount on my entry fees for this festival. I don't know what happens next with this one.

Very interesting.

Congratulations!  However it goes.

And because I am 12 years old, it amuses me that we are number 69 on their list of films.

Thanks, CF. It will become more surreal if I get selected to the Katthmandu Festival on Monday.

BOLLYWOOD!

Rajasthan has a thriving cinema, mostly because it is so scenic and has lots of natural and historic locations. We didn't get there when we were in India but it was a place we considered. Travel in India is challenging and we had limited time.

I placed 69th at Nationals in Fencing. It's good to be 12.

And I graduated from high school in '69.

And I was only 12.

No, wait.  Mentally 12.  (Locked into the body of an 18-year-old.)

If only we could all stay 12. Isn't that what DOOM is truly about?

Happy Validation Day! Today I am supposed to hear from the Kathmandu Film Festival. They must have given me a really good waiver to participate. Since no one has seen the film in that part of the world, expectations are low. But the same could be said for Chambal. If Kathmandu doesn't happen, I still have Oslo and Cift to look forward to tomorrow. I entered Cift (Toronto based) yesterday. They announce tomorrow, both notification and standing. Again, I got a really good waiver.

Darn it. Stro: TMDS will not be screening in Kathmandu.

Well, it was going to be a double validation day but right off the bat, I received word from Oslo that they did not want Stro:TMDS. All that money wasted! Except it was a free entry, so I'm good. I was told they gave the film careful consideration. Except no one in Norway screened the film. C'est la vie.

Which means I'm only waiting to hear from the Cyrus International Film Festival out of Toronto. I signed up with them on Sunday. This gave them two whole days to judge the film. We shall see.
