AWARDS SHOW! Last night I watched the Ojai Film Festival Award Show. The Queen was so excited she went back to work in her office.

As Film Festival award shows go, it went pretty well. No celebrity presenters ala Burbank but at least it didn't have 35 minutes of ill prepared presenter fawning all over Ed Asner who couldn't hear a word the presenter was saying.

But from the first award I knew the fix was in and we weren't going to win. Maybe not fix so much, but I knew that winners all knew already they had won. Why? Because the first winner had a pre-taped segment thanking the Ojai Festival for the award. The second did as well. Since I had not filmed an acceptance speech, I knew I was not going to get an award. I hung around to see if Stro would get honorable mention, but that didn't occur either.

That's about it for festivals at this point. I'm in three festivals this week currently and they all wrap Sunday. Two more award chances but they are doing shows. There is one more Festival in December but they are just announcing who they like. They aren't screening any films.

I am still entered in more festivals, about 25, I think. They start announcing next week but not at the pace that was September and October. I have notifications coming through May. But it will be much quieter. The one I would really like to be involved in is Cinequest. I think it would be fun to be accepted into my hometown festival. Plus, it's a pretty good festival to be in.

We shall see. Time to come up with a new a project. Preferably one that doesn't rhyme with BM and Petty.

You should pre-tape a generic acceptance speech to ensure victory...

The Burbank FF had everyone that screened a film make an acceptance speech and send it in. During their award show they just queued up the winners tape.

I don’t get it.

One of the people who follows me on Facebook just asked me where they could see the film. Jesus wept.

In other news, I was named a Finalist at the LA Live Film Festival. I'm not sure what that means, but when I find out. I will let you know. I don't know if finalist is the final level or whether they pick a winner from the finalists. I was named a finalist for Burbank as well but they announced a winner.

In other other news, the Buddha International Film Festival has said no to Stro.

Time to go get a trophy made for that win!

It's going to be kind of a braggy day. I did buy a t-shirt and a mug from the Los Angeles Motion Picture Festival

***UPDATE***

Not too braggy as it turns out. LA Live did give out a Best Documentary Award. It went a documentary narrated by Woody Harrelson. That seems like cheating. The finalist would be the cumulative silver medal. Of all the losers, we're number one.

The Mescalito BioPic Film Festival website page where there has been a notice that Award Notification has been delayed is now blank. I've been hitting refresh on that page like a rat punching the button for a pellet in a science experiment.

Aha! Mescalito did finally announce, only not on the page I was looking at. They had all the winners on the Italian language page while I was checking out the English language page. Sad to say, Stro did not win.

Happy Validation Day! As usual I hold out no hope for the usual reasons, mainly they haven't seen the film in Paris for the Beyond the Curve FF. Plus, I don't think I've been accepted yet on the actual Validation day. Notification Day is the rejection day. Still time will tell. And hasn't it been a nice break this last week or so without announcements?
