A honeymooning couple stop for the night at an ancient castle. As the night progresses, they meet some strange characters, and in bizarre ways. The husband quickly falls into the background here, and the focus is mostly on various women, with a strong lesbian slant.
The two main males are a pair of vampires with an intriguing backstory and motives, giving this vampire film -- wait for it -- some fresh blood.
Not quite as enjoyable as Requiem of the Vampire, but it comes damned close. And it contains unique moments all its own. SPOILER ALERT!>>>ahhh, the grandfather clock<<<
There's not a lot of dialog in a Jean Rollin film, but when it comes, it's often done with impressive camera techniques. And these can be long shots, requiring lots of actors to be on their marks and timed to speak at the right time.
