Would it have killed him to learn more than two moves at a time?
Still, this shows promise. Certainly there's room in the franchise for a Klingon musical branch.

Well, that was a fun start. The promise of 7 of 9, sword fights and romulans. I'm in.
Extra points for Orla Brady as Picard's Romulan friend Laris. I met Orla a few times because she played Lydia on Into the Badlands. I really regret not taking a photo with her at the premiere - we thought about it. Remember Greg? I had dinner with her in Dublin later, and interviewed her right after she did this amazing shoot in the freezing Dublin cold on horseback. She was also in The Foreigner, Jackie's last film that was any good. Being an older woman, she was very protective of her image and denied selfies. But she was also really charming and witty, and had that lush Irish accent that was just a delight. She makes a good Romulan. The synth bit reminds me of Star Wars clone and droid devices. The quantum library reminded me of Harry Potter's prophecy vault. Star Trek is poaching ideas from other franchises, but they all poached from Trek. Good to see Starfleet Academy is still in SF and the Golden Gate is still standing, even if it's kind of pointless with everyone flying around in shuttles. For that matter, what's the point of winemaking when there are replicators? I was delighted to see that they had the TNG teacups. I actually had a set of these by coincidence. They were a mass marketed product. I think TNG just used them because they were cool. I was really delighted at the time. I had a matching coffee french press. I think those all broke over time however. Nevertheless, I'm in. I trust Chabon will take us on a good ride. Engage.

Enjoyed the first episode a lot but not sure I want to pay to watch the rest. Seems quite promising though. Certainly looks great, but their efforts to make Data look less old than Brent Spiner really is just made him look weird. I thought it looked like they made the Golden Gate into a solar farm, or maybe just put a roof on. That spot would seem to be a bad place for a big solar array.

e2 wasn't as strong. A bit of a segue ep I guess. Not much happens. There's an odd shot of Vasquez rocks and I was hoping for gorns but it has nothing to do with that. Maybe there will be more in e3. Tamlyn Tomita joins in as Commodore Oh, a starfleet vulcan...or romulan. I'm liking Orla's character. She's a good romulan. Good romulans have irish accents. Bad romulans have british accents. The poaching of Star Wars' Order 66 with the Star Trek synths is painfully apparent now. But y'all can skip this ep, should you find yourself tuning in to this.
The 'visitor' pin I got at sdcc appears. I got it at the special ST display, a limited edition, just for sdcc. I am disappointed that it is not to scale but now understand that it is supposed to be worn sideways. I am no longer subscribed to cbs access. ![]() I'm still invested. Waiting for that sword fight.

Started to watch e3 but I need a stronger connection. Instead I diverted to TNG S5e23 I Borg, because that character Hugh returns in this ep and I couldn't remember his story arc. Maybe I never saw it. I'm not sure I've watched all of TNG and nowadays, I just cherry-pick eps according to whim.
Worthy of note - this ep has the Picard v Guinan fencing scene. Turns our fencing in the 23rd century is more or less the same, only the gloves have glittery cuffs. Despite being the superior fencer, Picard makes the rookie mistake of not putting his chin all the way into his mask, so it sits at an awkward angle. You'd think an actor with as much Shakespearean training as Stewart would know how to properly don a mask. But hey - a sword fight! Star Trek always had a fine tradition of sword fights going all the way back to Sulu and of course, one of my all time fav eps in TOS, Day of the Dove. TNG S5 was a strong season - it has this ep, the Hugo winning Inner Light ep, and Ensign Ro, the starfleet officer that I partied with in real life. Hugh was sort of a precursor to 7 of 9 I suppose. There are two other eps Descent p1 & 2 (S6e26 & 27). Might check those out later. If nothing else, Picard tickles my inner trekkie and lets me nerd out.

Is that another euphemism? I'd rather you didn't let your nerd out.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

HA! OUTED!
See now? You're a TOS trekkie too. Nerd out. You nerd you. ![]() btw, just to out nerd your outed nerd, mudd appears in disco. to be honest, i didn't much care for his role in the series itself, but they did a short trek based on him, and that one was okay. what's more, disco mudd is played by... dwight ![]()
