We are Marshall
#1
What a weepy. Not that it made me cry. I'm a tough guy macho carpenter, but boy did it play on the emotional strings. But I didn't cry.

It's the story of the Marshall football team back in the seventies. The team was flying home from a game when the plane crashed and killed most of the team, it's coaches and quite a few boosters. (Did I spoil anything? You knew that part, right?) The University is faced with the decision of disbanding the program in memory or putting a team together for the next season.

So, they disband the football program and the movie is over.

No! They decide to rebuild with the help of Matthew McConneghy as the new couch. He's a little bit out there, but he gets the job and the team goes on to a National Championship the very next year. Nope. That's not quite it either.

Needless to say, there's a lot of struggle and adversity as the University and town itself come to grips with their loss. It was a pretty good sports movie. It wasn't any Hoosiers, but it did divert me until I could watch the history of the Ohio STate-Michigan rivalry on HBO.

Other things I learned about Marshall: Both Chad Pennington and Byron Leftwich are Marshall alums.
So much for the flickr badge idea. Dammit
