Olivia Coleman plays Edith the subject of some coarse language letters. The blame for the letter writing falls on Edith's free spirit neighbor and one time friend Rose. Rose is a single mother from Ireland and is plenty foul mouthed herself. Edith's home life is terrible with an overbearing father who rules her life. Trying to sort it all is Police Woman Constable Gladys who has her problems with the rampant sexism on the force. The film takes place in 1920 England so that gives the movie that hideous class distinction/misogyny issues as well.
The movie is pretty twisty. There is a court case. Lots of accusatory fingers. Edith's father is not a delight but is from the Harry Potter world.
Good British light comedy.

As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm
