I few weeks ago I started hearing about the casting JJ Abrams new Star Trek movie that is set to be a prequel to the original series. I was pleasantly surprised by the casting choices to play all of the original cast roles. They all have some level of acting ability while also bearing a resemblence to the original actors. Examples are Zachary Quinto (Skyler from Heros) as Spock and Simon Pegg (from Hot Fuzz and Sean of the Dead) as McCoy.
But today I read that Spock's mother is going to be played my Winona Ryder?! Have I really gotten so old, has so much time elapsed that Winona Ryder can play Skyler's mom?

I thought Simon Pegg was going to play Scotty? I've heard Shatner complaining he doesn't get to be in the movie despite the fact the Nimoy will be in the movie.

As for Ryder playing young Spock's mom, maybe. Was it his mother or his father that was the Vulcan? And do we get to replay scenes from when Spock had to mate and went off the deep end?

See I'm neither geek or nerd because I couldn't answer the Star Trek question. But I'll bet the rest of you can.
