Travel: last Sunday, I traveled 3 miles west to the railroad tracks that follow the coast down to Monterey to do this:
Some neighbors and I had volunteered a few months ago to help with track cleaning. We’re supposed to get a free ride at some point, but my neighbors got tickets for opening weekend. Since it was the 4th of July, we all dressed up.
It was a fun ride, but the initial incline was a good workout. We were the second car behind the staff and had to stop a couple of times when they derailed. They assured us that that car was their prototype and was prone to that.
All in all, lots of fun and a great view of the coast over Monterey Dunes.
