Superb Owl
#1
It seems like we should have a thread to explore the annual Sportsgasm that is Superb Owl. There probably already is a thread for this. I'm too lazy at the moment to go look for it. This could be a really short thread since I suspect I'm the only one watching this spectacle.

The game was a bit dull by the time the fourth quarter rolled around and everyone knew that Tampa Bay was going to win the game. It was an upset. Everyone expected the Kansas City Chiefs to win, but no. Good for Tom Brady winning his 7th Superb Owl.

I only caught the tail end of the half time show with The Weeknd (Yes, that's how he spells it) It seemed fine. I did like the entire field full of his dancers. A lot of my contemporaries aren't familiar with him or his work so they disparaged him. But he sang. He danced. What more did they want?

Lots of ads. But that's the reason for many to watch. Nothing was super amazing. I did like the M&M's spot. I thought it was odd there weren't more Movie Trailers because this is also a big time for those. Due to the ongoing pandemic and the uncertainty in the film world is probably the reason there weren't more of those. I did like Michael B. Jordan as Amazon's "Alexa" I'm also curious how much Jeep had to pay Bruce Springsteen to appear in their ad. And does anyone buy Springsteen as a Cowboy, this boy from the Jersey Shore?

Please post the good ads. I was going to watch a recap on youtube but most of the compilations clocked in at an hour and a half plus.

I tried to get Yuki to watch the Puppy Bowl with me but he was not amused.

Dogs watching dogs on screen is never restful. On 30 Coins, there is a scene at a Vets office. All the dogs are going crazy in their cages. Lots of barking. Maeve and Dani had to help out by singing along.

Some of the Ads. The Will Ferrel ad is probably the funniest. I liked the M&M ad a lot.

Something that added a little excitement to a rather dull fourth quarter.

Yuki sings to Stacy's daily piano practice. He's getting quite good.

Thanks for those ads! I'll watch them later when I have some time.

I wasn't planning on watching it at all, but then I got lazy and did....I wasn't rooting for one team or another. I just wanted to see a good game. (I didn't pay attention to this season at all. I think I gave up on football after the booted Kapernick because cancel culture...).

The M&M commercial made me laugh.

Good ads. Those plus the streaker make me feel like I watched the game. Thanks for sharing those!

It also made me remember when I went to the Superb Owl - I told y'all about that - http://www.brotherhoodofdoom.com/doomFor...p?tid=3643

Wait...am I the only DOOMer that's attended a Superb Owl?

Yes. But you got a free pass. If you had an opportunity to buy a ticket would you go?

Free pass? Re-read my experience - I worked my ass off to be there. And was glad of it.

Wasn't free. I even had to pay for my own nachos.

But no. I wouldn't've paid for it. I don't really care for football. Which made it all the more ironic, right?

The only "professional" football game I ever went to was a USFL game at the Oakland Coliseum with The Panthers. According to wikipedia, the only time they played there was in 1984 so there you go...I don't remember a thing except that we had good seats, pretty close to the field.

PS: Also, according to wikipedia, they merged with "The Oakland Invaders" later. What an original sounding name for a football team...
