I hate not finishing a book. And I feel guilty when I don't. But then again, I come up some books that are just too not good or not what I want out of a book to continue. I'm starting this thread to show those books.
My inaugural book in this was is Black Leopard Red Wolf by Man-Book Award Winning author Marlon James. See? It's an important literary work. But it is also a work of speculative fiction. The book takes place in a mythologized Africa and describes the life of the young boy, Tracker, and his adventures. I think that's what it's about. I'm about 65 pages in and I'm ready to throw in the towel. I might read a bit more before I head to the library and return this baby.
The book is a lot of work to parse. There are a bunch of stories all happening at once and I'm having a hard time keeping them straight or even caring about the characters. It's like a nasty doll of stories and the author will break off onto other stories in the middle of a story which sometimes becomes another story. At the top level, Tracker has been put into prison and is being tortured. He tells the story about his boyhood and the tribes that he was involved with. It talks about he's a man with woman inside him with man parts or he needs to cut the woman part off his man penis. He lost his father who was his father who was his grandfather and he needs to avenge the death of his brother who he didn't know he had while he lives with his Uncle who I'm not sure is his uncle meanwhile he wants to sleep with this man who becomes a leopard while they are on an adventure to give a baby to a witch who isn't really a witch.
It's a lot to keep track of and I don't think I want to.

As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm
