Yay. I guess they must have seen it in YouTube. We did have a bit of a spike in views today pushing is over 1500. Average watch time still around 8 minutes.

The Queen has been pushing me to get The Last Captain on ESPN. They have to be desperate for programming since all the major sports leagues are on hiatus due to the pandemic. Thank god for all the repeats of Corn Hole Championships, I guess. And I did appreciate them becoming ESPN 8 for a couple days to air obscure sports.

I don't recall where I saw the LinkedIn email address for the Director of Programming on ESPN, probably on LinkedIN, but I saw it and sent him a short pitch about airing The Last Captain on his network. It felt like dropping a coin in the ocean and hoping someone returned it.

Today, I got the coin returned. Mr. Trevor Gill sent me a waiver to sign before he would talk about The Last Captain. I have done that and now wait for Mr. Gill to respond.

Fingers crossed.

I just sent him the link for the movie. He responded about two minutes after I signed the waiver. I also put in a plug for Stro. Because why wouldn't I?

Validation Day!

You heard me. The Last Captain has been accepted into the Anatolia Film Festival. It is to a real thing, dammit!

I get a lot of pitches at this point to enter film festivals because of Film Freeway. Usually, Film Festivals don't want older films. At this point the cutoff is 2019.

Well, the Anatolia FF was looking for older films that might have been overlooked, And at the grand price of $6.20, I figured what the hell. I entered The Last Captain.

And now I'm in a film festival in Istanbul! Good times.

It does make me happy.

Yay! Finally some laurel leaves for TLC!

Damnation.

I've been trying to post a snarky Ruinator witty comeback to this but I've been merc-n-retro-ed after several repeated attempts. I concede defeat.

Be happy, Greg. The Ruinator will try again later. That's what we fencing masters call a renewed attack.

Viva The Last Captain!

How about a message from the festival itself? A lot of the rules for festival can be cryptic. I was excited to be accepted but it just seemed to good to be true. And it kind of was. The Anatolia FF, I think, officially selects a bunch of films and then narrows it down to just showing three. That way people who enter can be official selections which leads to laurels, but you aren't really going to be part of the festival. That's the case with The Last Captain. On Twitter, Anatolia FF showed which three films were in the finals of documentary for the festival. The Last Captain was not pictured. Dumbo FF did a similar thing for Stro. I was officially selected but didn't make the monthly cut.

The email I received from Anatolia FF "Wished my the best in my future cinema career"

I'm still keeping the laurels for the film
