She and her husband established Penguin USA, Bantam Books and Ballantine Books. She was an editor and pushed SF authors doing magazine work to write novels for Ballantine. According to Tad Wise, "She birthed the science fiction novel."

Good obit. She and Ian did great work.
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.
