The Coen Brothers make another western
Think of it as six short stories wrapped up into one feature. And it's on Netflix instead of in the theaters. I'm guessing the Coen brothers couldn't get any of the major studios to sign off on this experiment so they brought it to Netflix.
To be fair, I've never worshipped at the altar of the Coen brothers. I'd be hard pressed to say one of their films was a favorite. But they can be interesting and they can be deadly dull. The six vignettes span that range.
I really enjoyed the singing cowboy episode. James Franco had the funniest line in the whole series. Tom Waits was a bit tedious as the prospector. The Liam Neeson bit went on way too long and was really creepy. The pioneers traversing the Oregon trail had some great scenery and was ultimately very sad. It does have the one easter egg or historical nod that I did catch. The last vignette had a great cast. But after I figured who was who, I spent the rest of the episode checking out Facebook. I think it had something to say about death.
So, a mixed bag for me.

As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm
