All those explosions were someone else fault by James Alan Gardner

Darklings and Sparks. Superheroes and Supervillains.

This book reminded me a lot of Peter Clines Ex-Heroes series of books. But instead of Superheroes battling zombies after civilization comes to a grinding halt, it's super-heroes battling vampires, werewolves and demons. These are the Sparks and the Darklings. Darklings signed pacts with the elder gods to get dark powers and they basically run everything. It's like if the 1 percenters were all blood suckers. The Sparks (you can't call them Super Heroes because that phrase was copyrighted by the Darklings) get their powers from mysterious origins.

The book follows four female college students who all get super powers as a result of a lab explosion. They book follows them for the next few days as they discover what their new powers are and why the lab exploded.

It's a fun job of world building. It's fast paced and funny. It's an inside look at four differing housemates and how they react to their new problems.

I'm looking forward to the sequel.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm
