Authors Chuck Wendig and Sam Sykes had a really funny shitstorm on Twitter about one asking the other if he was a serial killer. It was really funny.
Somebody thought it was funny enough to make a horror movie about it for SyFy. Now, step and ask yourself if you think the interchange between two writers on Twitter can be the basis for a successful movie?
If you answered no, you're right. Once you get past the joke about calling your friend to find out if you are a serial killer, there's not a lot there. Allyson Hannigan plays the role of Chuck, the person to be called. She spends her entire part of the movie on the phone and walking around the comic book/movie store where she works. There are a couple of funny background Easter Eggs, like the presence of a Sam Sykes novel on the counter and ever present picture of Flounder from Animal House in the background, but I didn't see many more.
Fran Kranz plays the camp counselor/slasher. I'm not giving anything away because you learn he is the killer in the first few minutes. Then the wait is on to see some big twist, which never really comes. The movie plays with the tropes of slasher films but adds nothing new. The title sequences are funny in they make you say "Hey, that's funny" but don't really induce out loud chuckles.
I spent most of the movie waiting for them to get on with it.
I should have watched Daredevil.

As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm
