The story takes place almost entirely in a nursing home, and for that reason alone I had serious misgivings about watching it (a sentiment likely shared by many of you based on recent parental events). But I endured the slow, bedridden, almost comatose opening and was rewarded by one of the best movies I’ve seen in a while. The pacing never picks up much, but Bruce Campbell gives a wonderfully restrained and touching performance as a resident who believes he is Elvis. The brilliant screenplay is based on the highly regarded novella by the same name by Joe R. Lansdale. As a Bruce Campbell vehicle, it's almost required that the undead will put in an appearance, and here we have a mummy feeding on weak souls.
I suspect most if not all of you have already seen this. If not, I’d highly recommend it. It's surprisingly touching.
By the way, what led me to this movie was the website 366weirdmovies.com. A quick perusal of their list satisfied my litmus test (several largely unknown films that are my faves were present), so starting at the top of the alphabet, I’ve been checking out the ones I haven't seen (that the library has). Bubba Ho-tep is the first bit of paydirt.

I'm nobody's pony.
