Once: The musical
#1
Based on a movie, that won the Oscar for best song, Once tells the story of Dublin Musician/ Vacuum cleaner repairman and his chance encounter with a Czech Pianist.

The play gets an A+ for innovative staging. At the beginning, before the play even starts, everyone is invited on stage to buy drinks in the bar set which is the main set for the play. You can do the same thing at the interval. If you tarry too long on the stage, you get to be really close as the musician stars of the piece come out and start playing some Irish and Czech folks songs. Of course for idiots, like the ones sitting next to me, you can be confused when the play actually starts up. (They were gabbing something fierce not realizing the play had started and I had to let loose the Grumpus)

All the actors in the play also serve as the musicians for the Orchestra. They also get to play stage hands moving the set pieces around to transition from one scene to another. It was all very well done and I enjoyed that stuff immensely.

it is too bad the story and the songs didn't live up to innovativeness of the sets. The songs were all very soft-rock stuff when I was hoping for more traditional Irish folk song stylings. The weirdest joke of the evening came when they said at least they weren't Josh Grobin. I am hard pressed to say how they are not like Josh Grobin.

There were some funny bits. There were some good hand clap to the music bits. But on the whole it was meh.

There was however some Karate, but the least said about that the better.
So much for the flickr badge idea. Dammit

RELEASE THE GRUMPUS!!!
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.

The highlights of the evening for me were the couple we went with and the dessert from dinner before the show: banana cream pie in an Oreo crust. Really, really delicious!
Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
