Zu: Warriors from the Magic Mountain
#1
Gene showed Legbone and I part of this once. It's just been released domestically on DVD, with both the 80min American version and the 100min original. It was actually reviewed in the NY Times:

Zu: Warriors from the Magic Mountain was actually the first Fant-Asia import from 1983 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086308/. Legend of Zu (now titled Zu Warriors) was the 2001 crazy CGI spectacle I showed y'all a few years back http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0286098/. I have them both on DVD. The original, which blew my mind back in the late 80's by the time I cuaght up with it, is now horribly, horribly dated. It's pre-CGI and a total cheese-fest. Still, Sammo is in both and he's always great.

Miramax has been sitting on Legend of Zu for 4 years now. We used to sell it until the shut us down. The crying shame is that we'll never get to see a theatrical release now. And to be honest, I'm still not sure how it ends. By that time, my eyes are so burned out from all the eye-candy, I've lost complete sense of the plot, if there is one...
