Guinness by Bill Yenne
#1
Why would I want to read about some guy giving Guinness a tongue bath when I could just drink a Guinness instead? Great story, poorly retold. Wound up skimming past many superlative exclamations. The two outstanding facts for me were: #1 there are many other books about Guinness according to the bibliography. #2 next year is the 250th anniversary and with glynch headed to Dublin, perhaps he can get me a really cool commemorative shirt or something.

Raw Spirit by Iain Banks. Scotch whisky + road trips through Scotland. Does it get any better? I think not.
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.
