Goddammit.
The Eagles are releasing their first studio album in 28 years. I remember buying their last studio album. sigh. I didn't bother with their live album. Who did?

Eagles? Who are they? Shouldn't this be in the "music" section?
I'm currently listening to Daniel Bernard Roumain "Etudes4violins&electronix".
Fuck Glenn Frey. They should shut up and play Konacti.

It was more of a time marker rather than a music marker. You know you listened to them back when dinosaurs walked the earth. How could you not?
Lot of bitterness there. Maybe you need to switch to decaf?

Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

I'm more disturbed that Greg actually remembers buying the last Eagles studio album than the fact that the Eagles are back in the studio. But that's Greg for you.
I was at the Hell Freezes Over tour when it came to Shoreline. What can I say? I enjoyed Hotel California - it had some great reggae in it. I was working for RM, of course. Even though HFO was well over a decade ago, I remember it quite clearly. Tons of middle-aged folk were all dolled-up like there were on the way to their L.A. prom, only much worse for the wear since they were all long past the time when they looked good in those kinds of outfits. Women in evening gowns, men in open-chested wide-collared shirts, it was a freaking clown show. And the limos. There were more limos at Shoreline than I have ever seen before or ever seen since. The entire lower lot was packed with limos. I think every rental limo in the Bay Area was there. Everyone there dropped some serious cash, not just on the outrageously expensive tickets, but also for the rides and the clothes. It was more important to look good than to actually be there, so many attendees were disappointed when it was done. The show went quietly until the end, when every single limo-driven couple got in some sort of spat and had it out in the parking lot. So the drama. Of course, the most dangerous situation is a domestic dispute, so RM was called many times to clean up bitch slappings and sobbing middle-aged debutantes. It was a hysterical evening from my perspective. I still chuckle over it when I think of it. I'd work another Eagles tour in a heartbeat.

I like the Eagles. One of the first albums I ever owned was 'Desperado'. 'The Long Run' got overplayed to death and is the soundtrack to shopping malls across the country, but the rest of the catalog is still great.
Also, Joe Walsh is very cool and his solo stuff holds up well.
Don't think I'd go see them unless the tickets were >$30.00

The Eagles have my respect for that album alone. Regardless of what they did later and how much airplay they received with lesser material, Desperado stands as arguably the most cohesive country-rock album of all time. They did some good work with Joe Walsh who joined later, but I'll take Desperado over any & all of their later work.
And Joe Walsh was always better as a solo. His "Smoker You Drink..." album remains a classic.
I can appreciate any and all good Eagle haters, as the bulk of their later work was, in my mind, over valued and over played. But I could listen to Desperado most days of the week.

I think I owned Hotel California on vinyl. Of course, I lack the tremendous memory skillz of Greg, and cannot even remember the last CD I bought, much less what was in my vinyl collection.
They were a grand band. Let us remember who is dripping with contempt here - the PPFY - who's musical tastes range from bagpipe dissonance to the whir of industrial metal grinders.

Well, I'd like to disagree vehemently about your description of my musical tastes, but you nailed it, dammit.
DM scores another touch.
Still don't like The Eagles. The song "Desperado" was one long CW whine.
DM's description of the concert was freakin HI-larious, though. When are you going to write your memoirs?

These are my memoirs.
If Greg kills this forum, it'll mean a significant loss of my long term memory banks.
