San Francisco Choral Artists in Palo Alto 12/16
#1
This is a choir that my brother is in. They do a lot of contemporary classical music and commission new works. It's not really my thing; we went to be supportive, so now we're off the hook until next year. They are certainly good, but that sort of music can be difficult to follow if you haven't heard it before. Plus the contemporary stuff, they did a Bach piece that had some surprising harmonies in it, a Brahms piece that was way too long, and two Renaissance pieces (those were of course my favorites). And they finished up with a 10th century hymn that was sort of interesting. I've seen them three times, and this was the most engaging performance of them.
