I was sad to see that Harold Budd died from Covid. He was somewhat unheralded, and judging from the lack of coverage for his passing, that's unlikely to change.
The Guardian had a short obituary, and a longer and very nice
appreciation of his work.

His most famous albums are with Brian Eno - Ambient II: The Plateaux of Mirror, and The Pearl. The latter may be his masterpiece. He made a bunch of albums, and did a number of collaborations with a variety of artists. His work is a bit like Eno's; he favored somewhat simple melodies with a lot of open space (also a bit like Erik Satie). Well worth checking out if you like ambient music.
