Detective Story (1951)
#1
Kirk Douglas in B&W as a hard boiled detective who uncovers the unsavory past of his wife. It's based on a play and mostly set in a police station ala Barney Miller or Brooklyn 99. It's okay. Kirk is soooooo Kirk. He can act though and beyond his Kirkness, he delivers some fine emotional scenes. It's very sexist and many of the problems aren't really problems any more. It began kind of dull but then picked up and redeemed itself in the end. Floors in those days were really noisy.

No sword fights. Not particularly DOOM recommended. Not even sure how this one got in our Netflix queue.
