So it's come to this.
I have started to make an effort to re-watch older movies that I remember enjoying. I rented "Groundhog Day" and "Mrs. Doubtfire" which I had not seen since they were released. I had been listening to the "Labyrinth" soundtrack a lot and realized I had not seen it in many years, the 30th anniversary Blu-Ray was on sale at Amazon for $10 so I said "Fuck *t" and ordered one.
What a great movie.
I never got into "The Dark Crystal" because it had a kind of 'fake' feeling. Muppets are best when interacting with humans. "Labyrinth" works because it's like "The Wizard of Oz". The lead is human interacting with freaking insane sets and characters. The songs are fantastic (I get the complaints about the "World Falls Down" segment, but the song is beautiful).
Watch this with the realization there is no CGI, everything is puppets and sets and your jaw will drop.
