Poptone @ The Regency Ballroom, S.F.

What a kick in the nostalgia gonads.

When I first moved to Austin, Texas in 1980, I found a little record store called Boo Boo Records near my house. I would stop in there once or twice a week. I didn't have much money but always found 9 - $10 for a new record. I would just ask the owner what was good that week and he would sell me The Smiths, Cocteau Twins, The Alarm and once 'Tones on Tail' "Christian Says". The record was on blue vinyl and thumped out a catchy bass hook that fueled my anger at being stuck in Austin, Texas,

Later I dove into Bauhaus and the goth scene but it all started with 'Tones on Tail'.

Poptone was resurection of 'Tones on Tail'.

Kevin and David Haskins, Diva Haskins (daughter) and Daniel Ash.

The show was a "no-talk, just play" assault of every Tones on Tail hit including "Go!", "Lions", "The Movement of Fear" and 'Love and Rockets' classics like "Slice of Life".

I knew every song except 2 which is weird because if you don't know it, is it obscure or new?

Anyway - fun show.
