"A woman (Yuen Biao) with supernatural powers seeks revenge against the martial-arts masters who murdered her family."
The above description has propagated all over the web. Who knows who first wrote it, but it is wrong. Yuen Biao is one of Jackie Chan's buddy disciples from Peking Opera days, definitely male, and it's nice seeing him in a starring role. The woman is played by the eternally ethereal and androgynous Bridgette Lin, who, ironically, is often mistaken for a male. Not to be confused with another woman in the movie also often mistaken for a male.
Anyway, DM is not the only DOOMer dipping into old Shaw Brothers fare (at least I think this is Shaw Brothers; not clear from IMDB). This is a wonderful movie that I never knew existed. It had to be the inspiration for the killer musicians in Kung Fu Hustle. The movie is jam-packed with martial arts, wire-worked to the point of popcorn. There's this magic lyre. It's the ultimate weapon, and all the martial artists covet it. When word spreads that it is being transported across country by a courier (Yuen Biao), everyone tries to intercept it. Intrigue ensues.
