God of Cookery (1996)
#1
This is one of my favorite un-sung Stephen Chow flicks.  It precedes CGI and I've always felt it was a precursor to Shaolin Soccer, but with this viewing I recant that opinion.  It's over-the-top mo lei tau humor centered around a cooking contest and it's really crass.  I watched the dubbed version on Netflix which came off as even more crass (somehow subtitles never seem as offensive).  In my memory, the Shaolin training sequence was longer, but in this version, it was short and at the end.  It feels a little dated now.  Funny stuff tho, assuming you like mo lei tau.

I saw this about 2 months back, really enjoyed it.  What else from Chow's hayday have I missed?

Been trying to convince the Lady to watch it.  I wouldn't mind seeing it again.  But she won't bite.

LCF, you should really see GoC. It's very Stephen Chow, in a good way.
