Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
#1
Decided I should re-read this after finishing Jane Eyre. I liked it a lot when I read it in college. This time not so much. Basically the story is that selfish (Cathy) and psychopathic (Heathcliff) people ruin the lives of everyone around them, and things only get better after they die. The writing was not as gripping as her sister's in my opinion. I wonder if it was meant as an indictment of the Romantic temperament, showing that it just leads to misery.
