Bill Graham and the Rock & Roll Revolution @ the Jewseum
#1
I didn't make up Jewseum.  That's really what the Contemporary Jewish Museum calls itself.

We dropped Cat off at SFO at 6:30 Saturday morn, for her school trip to DC, and barted into SF for a wonderful day in America's finest city.  We started at the Farmers' Market at Embarcadero, which is the best farmers' market of all that I've been too, except maybe in Pune or Hong Kong.  Then we shuffled over to the re-opening of SF MOMA, which was glorious, only we didn't have tickets (sold out) so we only got to see the main areas, not the galleries.  In celebration, all the local museums were free, so we checked out this (which I've been wanting to see) and YBCA (just cuz it was free).

The Jewseum has funny architecture - everything is at odd angles, even the benches.  It's a bit too much. But the BG exhibit was cool.  Some good memorabilia, Janis' tamborine and dress, Carlos's guitar, two of Bill's NYE outfits - the best was a shard of Jimi's broken guitar.  The vintage posters didn't impress - after all, I used to work for the Fillmore and had seen most of them.  Same goes for most of the photos, although there were a few nice ones.  I was impressed by Bill's ID card from Nazi Germany, and his Bronze star, both of which I had read about but never seen in person.  It was presented chronologically, with some listening stations which were fun, and 60s SF rock looping constantly in the gallery.  The 80s were interesting because I kept thinking 'Wow, I was there!'  And then thinking 'Wow, I'm so old that my memories are in a museum already?'  It was a nice exhibit, honoring a man that I remain proud to have known in person.  But I'm really glad it was free.

The rest of the day was spent walking the city and leaving our hearts in SF once more.

I read the headline and thought you went to see a museum about the evangelist.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

Wow!  Greg used a unique subject line.  That was a mighty fun hover.

And ditto.  I also thought DM was referring to the evangelical.

Sounds like a great day.
I'm nobody's pony.
