Love London? Like magic? Like police procedurals? Have a sense of humor? Start at the beginning and get to it. I'll be surprised if BBC doesn't pick these books up for a series. The author has scripted some of the recent new Dr. Who episodes, and his plotting is tight.
Thoroughly enjoyable urban fantasy books.

I've read all of the Aaronovitch books. (Damn it! Wish he'd write faster.)

I just finished Foxglove Summer. Write faster, dammit!
I'm handing them off to Bjonerud.
When is The Beeb going to make these into 90 minute episodes, like they did for Sherlock?

You might try the books by Benedict Jacka. Similar British modern magic users milieu. Maybe more akin to the Dresden Files. They are still fun.
