This book started out like a house of fire and I couldn't read it fast enough, it was so engrossing. Then it just became a chase around the globe and they moved the focus away from the character that I was most interested in and it just wasn't the amazing read it started out to be.
Skinner is in charge of protecting people. If you hurt or abduct the people in his care, he slaughters everyone involved in hurting his asset. That's the theory anyway. When the story starts up, someone has hurt his asset but there are no repercussions. So, that through up a big WTF? Then we jump around and we start letting other characters lead. I was waiting for Skinner to do more or there to be more backstory about him.
Houston does right really well. His characterizations and dialogue are fresh and fast. The story is very current with references to Sandy Hook and the shooting in Connecticut. But I gradually lost interest in where the story was going.
