The Secret Knowledge of Water - Craig Childs
#1
The reflections of a desert dowser.

This was recommended to me. The writing is pretty descriptive, I just had a hard time getting into it. I finally slogged through it and say:

eh...

There are some interesting observations, and there's a bit where he finds some underground caverns after passing through a small hole in a waterfall that is a good read. There's another about an indian folktale about sacrificing children to stop a flood. He seeks out the present day shrine.

Not much else to say.

...he's a total Chero-honkee and gets himself invited to this tai chi festival that I teach at every year. You gotta figure if they let me teach there, they'll let any poser teach there too. He uses this wiggly rod, like a metal tampon on the end of a wild hair slinky. He kept trying to get us to try it. One of my friends there, who was totally drunk at the time and hated this dude, said "let's make it find who here has herpes!" We all broke out laughing. He misheard us and was all "who has a hair piece? ok!" We almost passed out; we were laughing so hard.
