I've never liked Seinfeld. This film is all Seinfeld. What's more, it rattled my preposterous bell just like the puppet chef in Ratatouille. Now, you gotta park your brain outside to accept the whole talking bee thing, but the bee/woman romance? The lawsuit? The finale? Silliness. There's almost an ecological message about Colony Collapse Disorder, but it's so garbled that it doesn't work at all. In fact, the only reason it might work is because the film was preceded by a message from Bert of Bert's Bees about Colony Collapse Disorder. I confess I remember chuckling once or twice in the film. I can't remember why. The scene with Sting was funny. Chris Rock was funny. Maybe that was it. But both of them are in the film for such short cameos so that doesn't redeem much. The animation was not interesting - nothing new or exciting at all. DM gives the Bee Movie a D-. T said she liked it, but tentatively. She does that to be positive after movies. She has yet to walk out of a movie saying 'that sucked'. However, DM suspects that by the time it reaches DVD, T will not want to rent it.
One slightly amusing part is there's a character named Ken voiced by Patrick Warburton (who voiced Kronk in Emperor's New Groove). Ken is very funny if you imagine that it's our own scapino. That only works for DOOMers and it was a survival move to keep DM from wandering off to some other film in the multiplex.
