Is that why you see so many people with popcorn buckets dancing at Dead shows?

Deadheads do these Grateful Dead Meet-Up At The Movies every year. Lotsa popcorn munched there.

These have been going on annually (with a short pandemic break) since 2011.

And no, I've yet to go to one.

And yes, this was a second intention play, strictly for Maestro Yeti's entertainment.

John Wick Heads to Vegas For an Interactive Attraction
Justin Carter
2–3 minutes

If you’ve ever wanted to become fully immersed in the world of John WickLionsgate has got you covered. Later this year, the action franchise is getting an “immersive and interactive” tourist attraction in Las Vegas.

Per the press release, the John Wick Experience was made in collaboration with series director Chad Stahelski and his production company 87Eleven. The i12,000 square ft. exhibit on the city’s AREA15 campus have visitors “navigate a high stakes adventure as well as visit a themed bar and retail shop open to the general public.” Guests will be given specific missions that involve characters and iconography from the films. They’ll also brush shoulders with Continental staff, crime bosses, and other assassins who (presumably) didn’t get on Wick’s bad side at any point in the films, all in the name of getting access to private Continental areas and learning juicy secrets.

Jenefer Brown, Lionsgate’s executive VP for global products, said a Wick experience felt like a natural move for a series built on “a whole world of alliances and vengeance hiding in plain sight. [...] This experience draws fans into that world like never before, and AREA15 is an ideal place for fans to live out the fantasy, action and danger portrayed in the films.”

In 2018, Lionsgate launched a Saw-themed escape room in Vegas, and one for Blair Witch in 2021. The studio has experience with theme park attractions, and Wick is an admitted fit for the ever-expanding concept. And it also helps keep the franchise in folks’ minds as Lionsgate tries to whip up a future for the larger franchise, including a potential fifth mainline movie and a video game

Not sure where to put this but there's a mention of a reprisal of the John Wick role in the article, so I'll put it here...

Quote:Bill and Ted's Next Excellent Adventure Is... Broadway?
Germain Lussier

They’ve gone back in time, they’ve gone to hell, and they’ve saved the universe. And now, Bill and Ted will go on their scariest trip yet: to Broadway. Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter, who starred in the time-traveling trilogy of films, are set to reunite onstage next year for the classic play Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett.

“We’re incredibly excited to be on stage together and work with the great Jamie Lloyd in one of our favorite plays,” the actors said in a joint statement. Lloyd, who recently made Romeo & Juliet with Tom Holland, will direct the production.

Wildly enough, even though Reeves has been a massive Hollywood star for over 30 years, he’s never appeared on Broadway before. Winter has, but it’s been decades. In the play, Reeves will play Estragon and Winter will play Vladimir, two friends who happen to be waiting to meet the same person who, spoiler alert, never comes. In the meantime, they discuss many things and explore the ups and downs of their relationship and friendship.

Before the show opens next year, we’ll be seeing and hearing a lot from Reeves. He’ll appear in the body-swap film Good Fortune with Seth Rogen and Aziz Ansari, is voicing Shadow in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and will reprise the role of John Wick in next summer’s Ballerina. Winter also just wrapped a movie called Adulthood, which he not only stars in but directs.

Anyone interested in seeing Bill and Ted wait for Godot can sign up for updates on the show’s official website.

Thank the Lord for Eva Longoria.

Quote:
  • Eva Longoria saved "John Wick" by providing crucial gap financing at the last minute.
  • The film faced a financial crisis, risking shutdown before Longoria's intervention.
  • Longoria's investment paid off when "John Wick" became a box-office success.
"John Wick" is regarded today as a modern action classic. As it turns out, Eva Longoria played a large part in making that happen.
A decade ago, when the directors, Chad Stahelski and David Leitch, were putting the final touches on the Keanu Reeves revenge movie, they received news no filmmaker wants to hear: The production had run out of money.
"We were less than a week out, and we lost almost $6 million on a gap financing," Stahelski told Business Insider in an interview celebrating the movie's 10th anniversary. "We were financing independently to get the bond, but one of the investors couldn't raise the money in time."
By that point, Stahelski, Leitch, and Reeves had put their own money into the movie — the producer Basil Iwanyk had even maxed out three credit cards. It seemed as if "John Wick" might never see the light of day.
But behind the scenes, someone threw a Hail Mary. CAA, which was putting the financing together, offered some of its actors who had bankroll the opportunity to invest, Leitch explained to BI. It promised they'd be the first to get paid back.

Eva Longoria answered the call, and "John Wick" became her first major producer credit.
Since becoming a household name on the hit 2000s TV series "Desperate Housewives," Longoria has become a producing power player with her production company, UnbeliEVAble Entertainment, which she founded in 2005 (it was acquired in 2023 by Hyphenate Media Group, which Longoria cofounded). She's since produced the Lifetime series "Devious Maids," which ran from 2013 to 2016; the 2015 NBC series "Telenovela"; and the 2019 ABC series "Grand Hotel."
"She came to the rescue, and she provided the gap financing, literally less than 24 hours before we had to lock the doors on the movie and walk away," Stahelski said, adding that the producer Iwanyk never disclosed who came through with the money until after "John Wick" became a hit.
"Basil took us out to dinner, and we were laughing about all the bullshit that happened, and he said: 'By the way, funny story, you know who gap financed you? Eva Longoria.' We were like, 'What!'" Stahelski said.

Stahelski and Leitch had never met Longoria, so they took her to lunch at the Chateau Marmont.
"She was laughing, going, 'I didn't think it was going to work,'" Stahelski said.
When Leitch ran into Longoria last year at an event, they couldn't help talking about "John Wick."
"We were reminiscing," he said. "She was like, 'Wow, that was the best money I've ever spent.' It paid back significantly for her." ("John Wick" went on to earn more than $86 million worldwide on a $20 million budget.)
So, has this opened the door for Longoria to go on screen in an action movie?
"She wants to for sure, she wants to do action," Leitch said. "I would love to work with her, we're trying to find something."

This caught my attention. Who knew Donnie Yen wanted to direct? Who knew there was another spinoff besides Ballerina?

Quote:From the World of John Wick: Caine

Speaking with Collider, Donnie Yen revealed he’s currently in talks to direct the John Wick spinoff movie focusing on his character, Caine,  himself.
Quote:I think both the fans, as well as the studio, want this to happen, and we’ll see. I don’t know, Steve. I can only tell you that much. But yes, we are talking, and we are talking intimately. We’ll see what happens.

Donnie Yen directed The Prosecutor which opens in a limited theatrical release today (probably why this is coming up in today's news).

Buzz is good on this one so far. If it's still playing in two weeks, I'll make the effort to see it in a theater.

And there's been talk of a Caine spinoff since the last Wick film. There's been a lot of discussion of WickWorld expansion since The Continental (remember http://www.brotherhoodofdoom.com/doomFor...p?tid=7678 ?) and the upcoming Ballerina.
