RIP David Crosby
#1
Well, then. Another classic Rock artist has passed. Although, it seemed like he had been sick for a long time. Waiting for that kidney (liver?) transplant didn't help. Plus, he fathered Melissa Etherdiges kids.

Variety Wrote:Singer-songwriter-guitarist David Crosby, a founding member of two popular and enormously influential ’60s rock units, the Byrds and Crosby, Stills & Nash (later Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young), has died. He was 81 years old.

His wife released a statement to Variety, writing, “It is with great sadness after a long illness, that our beloved David (Croz) Crosby has passed away. He was lovingly surrounded by his wife and soulmate Jan and son Django. Although he is no longer here with us, his humanity and kind soul will continue to guide and inspire us. His legacy will continue to live on through his legendary music. Peace, love, and harmony to all who knew David and those he touched. We will miss him dearly. At this time, we respectfully and kindly ask for privacy as we grieve and try to deal with our profound loss. Thank you for the love and prayers.”

Another bummer.

I saw CSN back in the day (pre-forum reviews so I'd have to search my ticket stubs for that).

Considering the amount of coke he and Steven Stills did, it's surprising he lasted this long. And from all I've read he was an asshole much of the time (again, did lots of drugs, and so was Stills). But he wrote some great songs with the Byrds - What's Happening, Why, Everybody's Been Burned. The first CSN album is a classic, but they couldn't keep it together. (Again, lots of drugs.) They could have been one of the biggest bands of the 70s. A shame.

Good Article on Vulture, and the linked article on The Guardian is good too.
