Supercop

I *know* this has been discussed somewhere on this forum - or maybe it was the old forum??? I looked all over the place, but couldn't find the existing thread.

Anyway, screw Jackie and Jet -- Michelle Yeoh totally rocks.

I concur, My Queen. She totally rocks. Basically an Asian "Emma Peel".
(highest praise I can give, mind you).
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.

I still think she should have went with Michelle Khan instead of Michelle Yeoh.

I remember when I first saw Supercop. She knocked me out. Now you know why we all winced when Zhang Ziyi kicked her ass in CTHD, and winced even harder when she uttered the disparaging line "oh James" at the end of Tomorrow Never Dies. BTW, the whole Police Story series is solid, especially 1, 2 & 3. I think 3 is the best, mostly for Michelle and the depiction of PRC. Here's more on the Police

Supercop was her return to film after a half decade break. For other Michelle tour de force flicks, check out the following:
Yes Madam - arguebly her best stunt film. She does one stunt in there that made her work legendary in the stunt industry.
Herioc Trio - Comic book heriones, but Michelle rocks. So does Maggie. Worth it for the machine gun bike stunt alone. Skip the sequel.
Supercop 2 - Michelle reprises Jessica Yang. Not astounding, but it follows up on the character. It has really weird incongruous scene of Jackie in drag
Tai Chi Master - actually this is more about Jet than Michelle. Nevermind.
Wing Chun - Michelle in a classic legend retelling. The tofu fight is hilarious.
Stunt Woman - Starts out great, but Michelle has a terrible accident in a stunt midway through the flick and the ending had to be totally reworked. They show the stunt failure at the end in the NG.
The Soong Sisters - No fighting, no stunts, but some superb acting.

Still trying to find the scene she was in that was cut from Fearless. I've seen a still. It wasn't an action scene. She was sort of a narrator.

Yeah, Michelle Khan (I concur with DM's preferred name) is majorly uppity with her lower extremities. She kicks high butt.

But there was a time when Jackie did too. Not that I'm criticizing his recent efforts. It's hard to knock someone for getting old. But I keep forgetting just what he was capable of doing.

Recently I saw a clip from Drunken Master II, which was a strain to watch, because he was trying so hard to be drunk and cute and it just didn't quite work. Speaking of work, did I mention wires?

Then I saw a clip from Wheels on Meals. I think that's what it's from. He fights Benny the Jet, who was a brutal ring fighter in real life until John Cusack finished him off in Grosse Point Blank (so sad and disrespectful an ending). The problem with Benny was that he didn't know how to pull punches, and he kept breaking Jackie's nose in this scene. Jackie got so pissed that he was going to fight him in the ring -- until Sammo showed him video of some of Benny's fights. Anyway, Benny forced Jackie to a whole new level.
Here's a link to the fight. It's captioned "The Greatest Fight Scene Ever."
For once I'm not certain I can disagree. Is is wonderfully inventive, masterfully paced, filled with humorous touches, and they both wear each other down in a very believable way.
