My Father’s Day gift was 2nd row seats on the edge of house right. It was opulent as opera often is - breathtaking costumes and magnificent set pieces. I don’t care for opera sung in English though. I still needed the supertitles to understand it all because opera singers punctuate and emphasize what they are singing oddly.
I read this book long ago as it is one of the four classics of Chinese literature and I had read the other three. This is the only non-martial classic. I hardly remember it at all.

Yes, it was a fine day. She treated me to brunch at Ananda Fuara beforehand and we caught the 2PM performance. It was something I was very interested in but probably would not have gone out of my way to see. We both enjoyed it.
Act one was all about the staging and costumes. Act two was about the singers - amazing performances. It was well attended but not sold out. Masks required indoors.
I enjoyed the conductor who mouthed the words for every song. Usually you can't see the conductor because he's deep in the orchestra pit, but being 2nd row to the side, we had a good view of him.
I will say that driving to and for to SF twice in 3 days felt like a lot. I went up Friday to see that antique weapon collection, which was fairly close to Tara's place but she wasn't free then. And I got stuck on HWY17 for 45 mins at a stand still - an accident occurred right ahead of me near Redwood Estates that stopped me cold. I think that path has gotten longer.
