Yep. Lots of work to do. Which is why I went down a Sparks rabbit hole.

Over the course of two nights, I watched this deep dive into Sparks. But as Edgar Wright pointed out, you don't really learn a lot about the Mael Brothers. I'm still not sure if I have Ron and Russel straight. I think Ron is the guy with the mustache. However, it's a great overview of all Spark's output. And it's done in a very interesting way. Lots of famous talking heads. The Mael brothers way in. I was reminded again that I first saw Sparks in the movie 'Roller Coaster'

They come across as very interesting and creative. They've had an amazing career. I just wish I liked anything I heard. There were a couple songs that got a maybe might listen to. I am curious about an album they did with Franz Ferdinand. But nothing that gives me the big wow/need to listen factor. Most of the talking heads said you really need to dive in and pay attention to the lyrics, but I don't know.

The story of Sparks is good even if you don't like or are familiar with their music.

I enjoyed it a lot. Many musicians talking. But as Greg said, really no personal info. We get some of their childhood, and then nothing. It's almost like they are tightly bonded together and obsessed with music, and that's their world. I knew almost nothing of their music, except "Cool Places" so I requested a compilation album from the library. Some of the songs had good melodies.

This is in my queue, but I’ve been busy watching sci-fi.

I also only knew of “Cool Places” until I’d heard this podcast episode recently:

Interestingly, YouTube just served up Weird Al Yankovic covering that:

I've begun a bit of a dive. These are the songs that stood out from the documentary. The video for Johnny Delusional is really trippy.
