Bruce Springsteen

I always ponder the question of why I don't like Springsteen more.

I watched the Netflix special of Springsteen's Broadway show. Analytically he checks all the boxes. He's funny and engaging. He's got good stories to tell about growing up and why he became a rock star. He gives some pointed talk about politics. He plays songs I know.

I really show go wow this is great. But instead I felt like I was doing a project for school. I spent a lot of time checking my phone during the 2 and a hour show. I was glad he played songs I knew, especially Brilliant Disguise. I did marvel at his use of language in his songs. But I kept thinking this was a show I have to watch because of it's cultural significance rather than really enjoying myself.

It was nice to hear the songs in their stripped down versions but it felt kind of gimmicky after awhile.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

You gotta see him live. I wasn't a fan until I saw him live.  He's great live.  Or at least, he used to be.
