Bird Box

I'll give this a resounding not bad. The best thing about it was John Malkovich.

There were some really good tense moments. The initial scenes were the onslaught of the badness occurs are really well choreographed. Basically, the streets descend into chaos. The character establishing scene with Piper and Sandra Bullock seemed to take up half of the movie. But once they get out of the hospital it goes along at a nice clip.

Oddly, every time I said well that's really dumb, somebody on the screen would echo the sentiment and come up with a reasoning.

It also follows the new (really old) trend of having horror movies be metaphors for what is happening around us. This faceless evil is destroying everyone around us and only the crazy people are allowed to live and understand what is going on.

I am now waiting for the Quiet Place-BirdBox cross over.

Well, that doesn't nudge me either which way about watching this.  I've been on the fence about it for a while now.

I could not achieve the necessary suspension-of-belief level. There are many things you can do while wearing a blindfold, but driving a car and navigating a river are not included in that list. I can barely run through unfamiliar woods as the blindfolded lead does with my eyes open without tripping over some roots or a log or something. Now I hear kids are trying the 'driving' stunt IRL and causing accidents. This movie made "The Happening" seem smart.
