13 Blocks
#1
A remake of The Gauntlet where Clint Eastwood is recast with Bruce Willis and Sondra Locke is recast as Mos Def and instead of getting across stateline, they only have to go 13 blocks. Inspiring? not. Maybe the airplane version edited out all the good scenes. Maybe I hate Bruce and Mos, espeically compared to Clint and Sondra. Maybe they didn't detroy enough stuff. Maybe the movie was just lame. Yeah, that's it.

BTW, The Gauntlet was the only time I've heard the name Shockley used for a fictional character other than this forum.

I think 16 blocks is the correct number to get you to 2 boring hours.
As for 13, maybe you were thinking of your normal evening entertainment:

As for Shockley, if you want to find further mention of the name, you'll have to resort to prison movies.

Sam SHOCKLEY is played by Richard LYNCH. This is Alcatraz: The Whole Shocking Story and Clint Eastwood was in a movie called Escape from Alcatraz. Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860 and John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.

My question is whatever happened to Sondra Locke?

The birdman, contrary to Burt Lancaster's depiction of him in The Birdman of Alcatraz, was actually a mean son of a bitch. He was hated and feared by all.

The only person who gave him a run for pure evil was Sam Shockley. Shockley was one bad dude. During a breakout attempt, the inmates locked guards in a cell. When they found their escape blocked, Shockley went back to that cell, stuck a gun between the bars, and started firing. Not certain how many guards he killed.

They gave him the gas chamber shortly after that.

But here's the really weird thing. Shockley hung out with the birdman, who was played by Lancaster. And where do you suppose Floyd Landis, winner of the Tour de France, grew up?

Lancaster, Pennsylvania!

Unbelievable...

She crossed that little known actor/director/Icon Clint Eastwood and for some reason has never worked in this town again. Although she did direct Ratboy.
