The Queen made the tragic miscue of stating she had never seen this fine film. I'll be righting that wrong tomorrow.
Not only does this film star David Carradine and Morgan Brittany and M. Emmit Walsh, it also has a very young Bruce Campbell. I didn't know this fact until I toured the Moab film museum during my recent trip to Moab. I also picked up the movie 'Lights, Camera, Moab' while I was there which tells all about the big films shot in the environs. The woman who sold me the disc didn't think Sundown was featured in that documentary. Or even mentioned.

I guess Lionsgate bought this film and repackaged it for distribution because now there are extras on the disc! The best was an interview with Bruce Campbell. This was his first film after Evil Dead 2. He was broke, was looking for work and this opportunity was a god send. He said it was an easy gig. He only worked about 3 days out of 7. He spent a lot of time partying in the trailers with the crew during setups and David Carradine was hammered the entire time. He didn't come right out and say that, but it was clear what Bruce meant.
The film is still horrible. Oh my god, it's horrible. There was lots of ACTING. The script was horrendous. The sets were terrible. But I knew that when I built them.
The Queen tuned out about ten minutes into the film, spending a lot of time surfing the internet on her iPad. She only perked up when Campbell was on the screen. And Campbell being in the film was a revelation. I didn't realize he was Van Helsing in the film. Or that the female lead was the lead girl in Valley Girl.
I don't know if those revelations balanced out the price of actually seeing this film again. Although, seeing the film after having just toured that country was kind of fun.
What made it even better was the picture was really terrible on the dying TV.

Not once did I mention the mother of all movies in the last post. I've had my sensitivity training.
Might have to show this one at a Doom gathering since I think none of you has seen it.
Come on! David Carradine! Bruce Campbell. John Ireland! What could go boom? I mean wrong.
